Fitbit announced several new features for users today, ranging from improved accuracy for heart rate tracking thanks to Google’s machine learning to YouTube Music for Sense 2 and Versa 4 owners specifically.

In addition to what we listed above, Fitbit also details new auto detection for rowing, elliptical, and spinning workouts, meaning users can now immediately start working out without having to manually start tracking. On top of that, Fitbit lists improved GPS on select devices (no specifics listed), as well as 20 new exercise modes for the Inspire 3.

For Sense 2 (pictured above) and Versa 4 owners, you now have access to YouTube Music. You can scroll through, pick, and control songs right from your watch, which is sure to be a welcomed new feature. Also for your devices specifically is the addition of magnification and zoom. Users can adjust the size of text on the watch so the display is easier to see.

When the first full trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped in April, fans were understandably jazzed about finally seeing Hugh Jackman in the iconic yellow-and-blue Wolverine costume. But what many probably didn’t expect was that there’d be a ruined CN Tower in the background of the desolate wasteland in which we find Deadpool and Wolverine.

While that was quite the fun Canadian nugget to find, Shawn Levy, the Montreal-born director of the film, teases that there’s much more in store for us.

At the July 23rd Toronto premiere of the film, Marvel Studios Canada asked Levy about what it was like to make a movie featuring two iconic Canadian superheroes.

“It’s such a crazy thing that I get to make a movie with two of my best friends and they’re famously Canadian icons. I’m Canadian, Ryan [Reynolds is] Canadian — the whole thing,” he said.

“There’s a lot of easter eggs that Canadians, in particular, will notice, and I think it might take some rewatches to catch them all. Let’s put it this way: the CN Tower that everyone saw in the trailer — that’s just the tip of the iceberg.”

In a separate interview with CBC News, Levy said “I don’t know that I can think of a mainstream event movie tent-pole that is more Canadian than Deadpool & Wolverine.”

We all saw that splashy Meta keynote video where Mark Zuckerberg threw unmistakable shade at Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro mixed reality headset. Calling the $3,499 device “expensive” while claiming Meta’s $1,499 Quest Pro offers a superior extended reality (XR) experience, Zuck was clearly attempting to get out in front of Apple’s invasion into his virtual territory.

In reality, both the Vision Pro and Quest Pro represent enormously expensive bets on an as-yet-unproven consumer XR market. Apple has made its Maps app available to more people by launching it on the web.

The service is currently in beta and available on Safari, Chrome, and Edge. However, according to Apple’s news brief, Edge only works on Windows. It doesn’t work on Chrome for Android, either. If you want to check it out you can visit beta.maps.apple.com.

The service is still limited and doesn’t offer the ‘Look Around,’ Apple Maps’ version of StreetView. However, it’s coming soon.

At time of writing, you can use the online Maps app to get directions, browse Apple Maps guides, search for businesses, and more. If you own or run a business, there’s also a link in the bottom left for adding your shop or service to the mapping app.

This is likely a good move for Apple, but I do worry it’s a little too late. Having Maps on the web will allow more businesses to use Apple Maps links instead of Google Maps, but like Search, Google has become the default, and it’s going to take a lot to convince people away from it on the web.

Thanks to an Amazon listing whoopsie by Spigen, we’re getting what appears to be our first look at the upcoming Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbuds from Google.

This leak is the marketing material from an Amazon product listing for the protective case that owners can place their earbuds case into. According to the images, the case is compatible with both the Pixel Buds Pro and Buds Pro 2, meaning we should expect the exact same year-over-year dimensions for the case itself.

As for the buds, we can see that Google will likely introduce a pink color option, likely to match that Peony-colored Pixel 9 we’ve been seeing around. We’re all for that. These images also confirm we should not expect any sort of stem on these earbuds, which differs from Samsung’s approach this year with the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.

On the bottom of the case we can see a small cutout next to the USB-C plug. It’s speculated this could be for a speaker that will help owners find lost buds via the Find My Device network. We’ll need to wait for Google to announce these things to know for sure, though.

While we’ve heard much about the upcoming Pixel 9 series and even the Pixel Watch 3, leaks regarding the Pixel Buds Pro 2 have been virtually non-existent. Thankfully, someone at Spigen messed up.

According to a case leak from Spigen on Amazon UK, the company will call its next pair of earbuds the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

In the leaked image, there are pink earbuds, which the company might call ‘Peony,’ matching the rumoured Pixel 9. The top of the buds appear to offer capacitive touch sensors and might be a little bigger than the previous version. The grills now match the colour of the earbuds instead of just being black. The case will have an oval design and the exact dimensions as its predecessor. There also seems to be a cut-out in the case next to the USB-C port, which could either be for a lanyard or a speaker for Google’s new Find My Device network.

Google will reveal the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and more at its Made by Google event on August 13th.
